We are reviewing the Scientific Method.  What are the steps, how scientists use it. What are the variables, how to write a hypothesis and finally, how to analyze a problem and determine what is a conclusion.

  • September 11th:  QUIZ on Scientific Method - all groups

 

September 14th to September 18th

This week we will review mass, lenght and volume, and discuss the metric system.

 Due date: 

  • September 18 th:  "Metric Unit Review worksheet" - Groups:  7-1  7-3  7-5  7-7

 

September 21st to September 25th

This week we will be learning about microscopes, scientists involved in the discovery of the microscope and cells, and the cell theory.

  • September 23rd:  QUIZ on Metric System:

                          *  Students should use their class notes to study as well as the

                              powerpoints from the Metric System page

                          *  Know the 5 common metric prefixes:

                             -  Kilo Centi Milli  Micro  Nano - give example for each

                          *  Know the 2 rules of conversion to convert unlike metric units:

                             1.  Converting from larger to smaller units - multiply or move decimal

                                  point to the right

                             2.  Converting from smaller to larger units - divide or move decimal  

                                  point to the left

  • September 24th:  "Class Snack Survey" - Groups: All,  if not done in class

 

  • September 25th:  "Discovering Cells" - Groups: 7-1  7-3  7-5  7-7        

                          "Cells" - Group: 7-9

Week of September 28th to October 2nd
